Following on from our post So how much can we grown then? and the video of the Dervaes family’s achievements I thought I’d create a page to record how much we grow during our first year.
Everything we harvest from the garden will be weighed, memory permitting, and recorded on a spreadsheet. The eggs (from 1st June) will be counted separately as although we’re not growing them they are still our own produce from our own hens. This will also allow us to see what has failed at a glance and what, if anything, we’ve managed to get an abundance of!
Rather than listing everything here separately I’ll just put up the overall total of the weighed produce and the eggs and I may add the spreadsheet or a link to it at the end of the year.
Total amount of produce so far: 13lb 4oz
Total eggs so far: 290
If anyone else fancies doing similar please do let us know!
290 eggs! Unbelievable!

Actually this hasn’t been updated for a while. We have had five or six eggs daily since April the 1st, which takes it way over the 290 eggs. And yes, we have eaten most of them ourselves!

LOL – my chickens are on a go-slow that is going on too long (some are getting older now and many have been re-feathering too) but when they do their peak rate laying in Spring, I get 12-20 eggs a day!!! Nope, we don’t eat them all – I have more potential customers than I could supply and all know it’s a variable supply at that.
