We’re a family of nine whose dream is to one day be able to buy a few acres of land, some animals and live happily with a much simpler and more self sufficient life. Our aim is to achieve this in five years time which seems an awfully long way away, but we have decided to put plans into place from now so that we can hopefully realise the dream by the time we (that’s mum and dad, not the children!) hit our forties, and hopefully a little sooner!

 So the plan so far is as follows:

• Learn to grow our own produce in our not that large garden (this should be interesting as we’ve never managed to grow a thing! Advice and guidance on this would be much appreciated!)
• Buy some chickens (not got a clue about this either! Ditto re advice and guidance!)
• Research more and keep learning about our dream
• Learn new skills which might help us along
• Save money! A huge one here, as we want (need) as much behind us financially as possible.

Simple, eh? I’m sure we’ll think of more things as we go along but if you’ve got suggestions please do let us know! One thing we do know for certain is that this is going to be a huge learning curve and is sure to be… interesting to look back on – for us at least!
